Tired as a Mother
It’s funny how certain things spark emotions or conversations. This mug, (the cup, not my face), got me thinking about motherhood and it’s all-consuming way of leaving us EXHAUSTED at the end of the day.
I honestly don’t know what’s worse.
Do you stay up late after you put your kids to bed and feel wrecked the next day? Or do you go to sleep when they do, and feel like you didn’t accomplish anything you said you were going to?
Seriously… Those are our options.
Whether you’re a working mom or a stay-at-home mom, children are a lot of work. Period.
No one mother has it easier than another. We all worry ourselves sick over our kids; are they getting enough exercise? Are they going outside enough? Are they hanging out with kids their age enough? Are they growing and developing along the lines that our society says they should be?
We worry about our husbands, our wives, our spouses. We worry that we don’t give enough of ourselves to them, or that they don’t get the best versions of us.
What’s left of us at the end of the day is a tired shell of who we were before children.
Is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY. Without question, motherhood is the most rewarding gift I’ve been given.
But do I get run ragged? Yup. Should I put more into my self-care? Also, yup.
But I’ll do it on my own time. I’ll do it when I’m ready. I’ll slow down a little bit later, when life’s not going by so fast.
Yes I’m tired. Almost all of time. But, I’m Tired as a Mother. And I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’m so grateful for my friend at @TrendyJemsShop (find her on Insta and give her a follow!) for her candid cups, not only for being the vessel of my coffee lifeline, but also for sparking conversation. You can shop her Etsy store, and get 10% off with code Amanda10.
